As is the case elsewhere in the world, authorities in Canada are increasingly requesting that individuals contracted to conduct marine mammal monitoring at offshore work sites first complete a training program to become a certified marine mammal observer. This goes to show the importance placed on this kind of work and the relevance of undergoing training in visual observation and passive acoustic monitoring (OMM-PAM) of marine mammals offered by the continuous learning department of Cégep de La Pocatière in collaboration with MMON.
Whether the marine mammal monitoring is part of offshore work relating to port infrastructure upgrades, seismic surveys, dredging or other, our pool of candidates is there to meet your needs. MONN proposes qualified marine mammal observers* that can carry out visual or passive acoustic surveys for whales at your work sites.
